A job fair will help local people find employment and apprenticeship opportunities at One Blackfriars, a landmark development in Southwark.
Developer St George will host the job fair at the Doggett's pub on Friday 17 June 2016 from 10am to 2pm. There will be a range of contractors recruiting for more than 40 construction roles including plumbing, drylining, electrical works, carpentry, labouring and business administration.
Marcus Blake, Production Director at One Blackfriars said: "One Blackfriars is one of London's most exciting developments. The 50 storey tower is creating hundreds of job and training opportunities in a diverse range of trades, which we want to promote to local residents. If you live in Southwark or a neighbouring borough and are looking for a job in construction, or training to start a new career, please join us on 17 June 2016."
Employers will be pre-screening candidates at the job fair for live job and apprenticeship opportunities and keeping CVs for future opportunities.
St George is committed to maximizing local employment and training opportunities throughout the construction of One Blackfriars. To date, the site has supported 67 work experience placements and eight apprenticeships in a range of trades including quantity surveying, brickwork and steel fixing. More than 20 formerly unemployed Southwark residents have found work on the development.
Planning permission was granted for One Blackfriars in December 2012. The development will create 274 homes, a 161 bedroom boutique hotel, 14,000 sq ft of commercial space for new shops and restaurants and a landscaped public square.
