Whilst renting in and out of London during the past ten years, corporate lawyer Meera Patel has been desperately trying to save a deposit for her own home. Having spent three months looking around Crystal Palace, a friend recommended Brunswick Square in Orpington by Berkeley Homes and she purchased a two bedroom apartment.
"My friend had just bought a one bed apartment as an investment at Brunswick Square and recommended that I look into the development. Both the development and the area really appealed to me and I made an offer with sales agents JDM fairly soon after." Meera, 27, will move into Brunswick Square at the end of 2017/ start of 2018 and describes the future move-in date as giving her a long-term goal: "The time before I'm able to move in, gives me the chance to save up more money for the deposit and stamp duty charges. The move has now given me a long term goal to save and will give me a sense of accomplishment when I move in."
Meera says: "I was looking for a large apartment to give me a lot of space. Some of my friends are living in smaller, more expensive properties closer to the city, but I wanted to get a lot more for my money. I really wanted an extra bedroom to give me the option to rent the second bedroom and to live with another person. My apartment also has a balcony, which will be great in the spring and summer and I bought a parking space so that I can have a car when I move in."
"The fast and frequent trains into London were another big incentive, as I will be able to get into London Bridge where I work in 20 minutes. The new trains which are being added from August, will also make the peak time service even better, making the commute to work fairly easy. Being in travel zone six, I will be able to use my Oyster card."
Meera says: "Over the coming years I hope to get to know the area very well. The Pure Gym, very close to the development was a major plus as I'm a keen gym user and having one so close to your home is a real bonus. I think it will also give me the chance to meet and interact with the local young people. The new Odeon cinema will also be good to have on my doorstep as well as a Sainsbury's."
Meera adds: "The development is situated in a unique position within greater London and on the border of Kent, making for easy access into the capital and a swift venture into the Garden of England. Meera says that the location is also an appealing attribute. "The area really has everything on its doorstep, London's attractions and thriving atmosphere is less than half an hour away, while the more quiet and countrified feel in Kent is great for running and long strolls. Having these two areas close by coupled with the local amenities in revamped Orpington will be great, and I am looking forward to moving in."
The town of Orpington has seen impressive regeneration in the last few years, and now offers an exciting new range of retail, dining and leisure facilities, including a 24hr Pure Gym, conveniently located on the doorstep of Brunswick Square. The town will soon feature one of the country's few seven-screen Odeon cinemas, which will create 46 new jobs in the area. Bluewater shopping centre is also only 20 minutes' drive away.
Brunswick Square is situated within London's Travel Zone Six, allowing residents to use Oyster Card to travel into and around the capital. Orpington railway station provides commuters with fast and frequent trains to London Bridge, Charing Cross, Cannon Street and Victoria. Two trains will also be added to Orpington's peak services from August 2016, increasing trains into London to up to nine times an hour. The area is also served by a comprehensive bus service, and there is easy access to London's M25 orbital motorway.
Prices start at £295,000 for a one bedroom apartment and £370,000 for a two bedroom apartment. For further information on Brunswick Square please call 01689 669066 or visit the website here.
