In support of the Berkeley Foundation, St George, part of the Berkeley Group, recently hosted a charity football tournament involving over 200 footballers.
The teams battled it out on the pitch to raise £30,000 for the homeless charity SPEAR in aid of SPEAR's work supporting homeless people into employment. This amount will be matched by the Berkeley Group, making to the total amount committed to good causes £60,000.
The St George 5's is the latest in a series of successful fund raising events that has enabled the Berkeley Foundation to commit over £2.8m of funding to more than 40 charities and worthy causes since it was established in 2011.
St George and SPEAR are planning more joint events and are working closely together to support more of SPEAR's clients into employment. The St George Managing Director Ross Faragher celebrated Steven Hinds, the first SPEAR client to secure employment with St George South London.
Ross Faragher said: "St George is honoured to be working with SPEAR to deliver their Skills and Development Programme. We hope that our fundraising efforts will continue to support and provide opportunities for those less fortunate in our communities."
Stuart Nevill, Chief Executive of SPEAR said: "We are delighted to be working with St George to provide great employment opportunities for people who have experienced homelessness".
