John Notman-Watt, 50, and his chef son Michael, 21, are both proud owners of St George apartments in the prestigious Kew Bridge development, proving there is truth in the old adage 'like father like son'. When Michael discovered Kew Bridge and decided to take his first ambitious step onto the property ladder, John unexpectedly found an ideal buy-to-let investment apartment too.
John comments: "Michael found Kew Bridge after looking around for about six months and I wanted to see what he was committing to when he decided to buy. Kew Bridge is substantially better than many of the other apartments he'd seen and I was particularly impressed by the solid level of build, high-specification and location. I had also been playing with the idea of buying an investment property in London and Kew Bridge caught my eye."
After doing some research about the local rental market and chatting to rental agents, John found that the area presents an ideal buy-to-let opportunity. Drawing professionals and young families, local estate agents told John that the area has seen significant interest from would-be renters, many of whom are already on waiting lists hoping to secure an apartment with a prestigious address.
"The rental market in this area promises pretty good yields and I intend to rent out my apartment for the foreseeable future. I live in Oxshott now but should I ever decide to have a London base I could certainly see myself living at Kew Bridge. Michael really loves living at Kew Bridge and I don't see why it would be different for any tenants I might have or even myself.
"The location is great and, in the summer especially, living right on the river has huge appeal. The scheme is tastefully planned and landscaped, and when I visit I can visualise how it will mature as the scheme progresses. Looking at the plans and the models give an idea of the scale of the development and how it will look when complete, down to the very last detail," continues John.
Kew Bridge is the epitome of sophisticated living with a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments and penthouses. The banks of the Thames have seen a number of prestigious developments in recent years and St George has been at the forefront of this renaissance of riverside living in west London. The scheme has been designed around a European-styled piazza and, once complete, all apartments will enjoy stunning views over the reflecting pools and landscaped courtyard.
All apartments feature comfort cooling as standard, under floor heating, marble bathrooms with heated walls complete with rails and robe hooks for added comfort and convenience. Villeroy and Boch sanitaryware is fitted to all apartments with individually designed kitchens finished with designer appliances and finishes. Special attention has been paid to every detail with a choice of wood flooring to living areas and carpets to bedrooms and impressive floor to height ceilings.
John also believes that the planned facilities make Kew Bridge even more attractive to residents, offering extra convenience to those who live at the scheme: "In addition to the communal gardens, gym and 24 hour concierge service, Kew Bridge will get its own pub, which I think is great! As a landlord I won't have to worry about the maintenance of the grounds or landscaping as that is all part and parcel of the purchase and this is just as important to me as it is to tenants and residents."
Ideally located less than 100 metres from Kew Bridge Rail Station, there is quick and easy access to the West End, the City and beyond via rail, road and air from the development. Heathrow Airport is just a few miles away, while important road links such as the M4 and North Circular are also nearby, providing easy access both in and out of Central London with its abundance of shops, restaurants, museums, galleries and universities in easy reach.
