Berkeley sponsors new minibus for Medway Towns Sea Cadets
Despite wintry weather, the Medway Towns Sea Cadets came out in full force on Saturday morning to attend the handover of their newly remodelled minibus, courtesy of Berkeley, voted Homebuilder of the Year.
Following extensive bodywork repairs, repainting and branding, Berkeley proudly handed the minibus keys over to the Medway Towns Sea Cadets chairman, Ian Spreadborough and three sea cadets at the striking new waterside village Victory Pier along Medway's waterfront on Saturday morning.
Overlooking the historic pier which Berkeley is refurbishing, Victory Pier's first new homes, 'The Boathouse' are soon to launch, comprising a choice of stylish apartments and penthouses with their own residents' gym and WiFi lounge, together with commercial space for restaurants, cafés and retail uses.
With Berkeley's impressive environmental credentials and strong track record in delivering successful regeneration projects, Victory Pier marks one of the first developments to kick-start a massive £6 billion regeneration of Medway.
Karl Wightwick, head of sales and marketing at Berkeley adds: "We like to get involved with the local community at an early stage in every new development, so we were delighted to have the opportunity to support the Medway Towns Sea Cadets.
"We are also in the process of refurbishing the historic pier, creating new riverside walks to ensure that the spectacular waterside setting is maximised for both residents and the local community."
Ian Spreadborough, chairman of the Medway Towns Sea Cadets, added: "We are indebted to Berkeley for their support, the branding makes a really positive statement and the works will extend the life of the vehicle by several years.
"Transport is so important to us - without it the sea cadets would not be able to reach the many different activities that are provided for them throughout the year. As such, the work undertaken on the minibus provides a real asset that the Medway Towns Sea Cadets can be proud of. "
