Bringing It Home to Grand Union on the Lioness Line
On 26th February, England’s Lionesses will host World Champions Spain at Wembley Stadium, marking their first home fixture of the 2025 UEFA Women’s Nations League.
This is an important moment for them as they return to Wembley Stadium, where they were named champions of the UEFA Women’s Euros back in 2022.
Making this match even more momentous is the number of fans who will be travelling to the game at Wembley Central via the newly named Lioness line, the Euston to Watford Junction part of the Overground, aptly renamed following the team’s victory.
The renaming of this line forms part of the major revamp the London Overground network underwent in Autumn 2024, providing each service with new names and a distinctive colour scheme to help commuters and visitors alike navigate the various routes, whilst also highlighting London’s rich, historical and cultural past.
The aim of the Lioness line is to encourage girls of all age groups to become more involved in sport, and inspire them to consider a future where they too are travelling to Wembley Stadium to play in front of their own adoring fans.
The new 3,350 home Grand Union development is perfectly located for sports fans looking to be in and amongst all the action this year, with nearby Stonebridge Park station just one stop on the Lioness line from Wembley Central.
It is also just seven stops from London Euston, making it really accessible for those seeking quick access into Central London.
