London's Best Ice Skating Rinks


At this time of year London plays host to a whole range of festive activities and seasonal events to explore. Ice skating provides the perfect family day out or romantic setting for couples, so get your skates on and head down to the best ice skating rinks in the capital.

Somerset House

Skate at Somerset House provides the perfect day or night out with family and friends, situated against the beautiful backdrop of Edmond J. Safra Fountain courtyard. There is a skate school for inexperienced skaters and a Polar Bear club for the little ones.

If you prefer to Après-skate, you can relax in Fortnum's Lodge and enjoy the luxury snacks and drinks available, or enjoy some winter warmers rink-side in the Skate Lounge. There is also a Fortnum's Christmas arcade in the West Wing, to meet all of your festive shopping needs.

Skate at Somerset House opens from 14th November 2018-13th January 2019. Ticket prices start at £8.50 for children and £11.00 for adults.

Tower of London

London's most famous castle hosts an incredible 1040m² outdoor ice rink over the festive season. There is a café bar available onsite with a selection of delicious snacks and mulled wine.

The ice rink will be open from 23rd November 2018 to 6th January 2019. Ticket prices start at £10.50 for children and £14.50 for adults.

Natural History Museum

With an ice rink positioned in front of the South Kensington museum, and surrounded by fairy lights, get that truly Christmas sensation as you skate around a 30ft Christmas tree.

The venue is hosting a series of acoustic performances and shows from some of the best emerging artists. There is also the museum's alpine style café bar run by Benugo where you can enjoy food and drink, with a balcony overlooking the rink.

The Natural History Museum ice rink is open until 20th January 2019. Ticket prices start at £8.80 for children and £12.65 for adults, family tickets are also available to purchase.

Hampton Court Palace

The ice skating rink at Henry VIII's home, Hampton Court Palace, opens again this year to the public providing an ambient location for a festive trip.

The palace boasts an open-air ice rink with daytime and evening sessions available. There is also a café bar available onsite offering seasonal favourites.

Open from 23rd November 2018 to 6th January 2019. Ticket prices start at £10.50 for children and £14.50 for adults.
