About London Dock

The 15 acre site was acquired by St George in 2012 and planning permission granted in March 2014. Construction started in September 2014 and the first residents will move into their homes in autumn 2016.

The world-class Patel Taylor masterplan includes:
• 1,800 homes, 486 homes (30%) of which will be affordable
• 210,000 sq ft of commercial floorspace
• Over six acres of landscaped open space including a major new public square at its heart
• Land for a six-form entry secondary school and sixth form college for 1,200 pupils
• Restoration of the Pennington Street Warehouse

St George is contributing over £6 million in Section 106 funding for local leisure facilities, public open space and public realm improvements, as well as extensive local employment and training commitments, including 65 apprenticeships.

The Pennington Street Warehouse

The Pennington Street Warehouse is a Grade II listed building, built in the early 19th century as part of the first enclosed commercial docks in the country. The warehouse will be restored and brought back into use as the commercial heart of the London Dock development with an eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, galleries and offices.

The first meanwhile use was 90 affordable artists' studios for Bow Arts, which launched in June 2015. The first permanent commercial occupier will be architecture practice JTP (formerly John Thompson and Partners), who will move to their new head office and architecture studios in 2017.
