Couple Relocate Across The World To Purchase Their First Home At Berkeley Group’s Poplar Riverside

Having grown up in China, this year Junsheng Liu and his wife decided to relocate to the UK. Looking for a change in lifestyle, they felt the UK offered exactly what they were looking for.

Junsheng comments: “London is considered one of the best places to live, which made it a natural choice for us to move here. It also offers lots of new job opportunities and a sense of stability and security, which were both important to us.”

In Hong Kong, like many places across the world, people often choose to rent instead of buying somewhere. So, when Junsheng and his wife made the move to London, they decided at first to rent a property in Brentford.

Junsheng says: “It didn’t take long for us to realise why people in the UK opt for buying a property instead of renting, particularly in London with how expensive rents are. It made more financial sense for us to pay our own mortgage instead, so after a few months in Brentford, we started the search for our own property.”

Finding the Perfect Property

The couple always had their heart set on a new build due to the convenience and low maintenance of moving into a property that had everything ready to use and enjoy.

Junsheng comments: “My friend who works in real estate told me I should be focusing our efforts on finding a new build by Berkeley Group – she told me they were the best London developer. We narrowed our search down and ended up buying a one-bedroom property at Berkeley Group’s Poplar Riverside development in east London.”

Poplar Riverside is a major new riverside neighbourhood which, once complete, will deliver 2,800 new homes, a new school and park, as well as a gym, creche, shops, restaurants and cafes.

“It wasn’t just the high specification and quality of the property we loved. We were excited by the wider offering of the development, and we can’t wait to use the resident facilities when they open next year.”

“The development is also within close proximity to Canary Wharf and The City, meaning we’re spoilt for choice with shops, restaurants, and schools, and of course makes it a great investment opportunity. Having started our time in the UK living in Brentford where there is no underground station, we love having Canning Town and East India DLR, both within walking distance.”

One of the First Residents to Move In

As one of the first residents to move in, Junsheng and his wife will get to see first-hand how the community grows.

“We’ve been living at Poplar Riverside now for a month and have really settled in and are loving our new home. We’re looking forward to meeting our neighbours in the coming months.”
