The effective management of Health and Safety remains fundamental and an integral part of Berkeley's business. Despite performing strongly against its peers, Berkeley continues to strive for continuous improvement in all areas of Health and Safety, considering the pursuit and maintenance of the highest Health and Safety standards to be equal to the quality of its product and financial performance.
Berkeley is committed to developing a culture through training and communication from the top down whereby the avoidance of accidents, the promotion of safe and healthy workplaces and the protection of the environment are common objectives shared with our customers, clients, contractors, suppliers and partners in all our undertakings and the communities in which we operate. The results of this approach speak for themselves as the companies incident figures have fallen dramatically over recent years and are almost half that of the industry averages.
The last 10 years has seen enormous changes within 'The Berkeley Group' in respect to the management of Health and Safety. Along with many of our peers, we have striven to improve in all areas of Health and Safety.
We do believe that the pace of change at Berkeley has been faster and stronger than that of any other large property developer/house builder in our sector. This has been due to the realisation that with our product being at the premium end of the market, the standards in all that we do, and particularly Health and Safety must be maintained at the highest level.
The Berkeley management team have a natural drive to be the very best at what we do and this lies at the heart of our business.
