Berkeley, Overview

Berkeley Overview

"In 2011, the Berkeley Group was nominated "Britain's Most Admired Company" across all sectors and industries."

The Berkeley Foundation

The Berkeley Foundation was launched on 4 March 2011. It works to improve the lives of young people and their communities in London and the South East of England. To date, Berkeley has donated and committed £2.8m to over 40 separate charities and worthy causes, helping to tackle some of the big social issues facing our society.

We focus investment on supporting young people and their communities in four separate areas. These focal points are developing people's skills, helping them secure a job, ensuring they have access to housing advice whilst also supporting hospices and other caring organisations. Every penny invested in the Berkeley Foundation is spent on charitable activities and worthy causes to ensure maximum benefit is achieved.

Each year through their developments and planning commitments, the Berkeley Group invests hundreds of millions of pounds into local communities, ensuring that the lives of the people in which it operates are continually improved.

Sustainable Development

Employment

Berkeley creates or sustains 16,000 jobs per annum. Each new home supports 4.5 jobs. Independent social sustainability research in 2012 found that residents of Berkeley developments have a strong sense of belonging; plan to stay in their new community; regularly talk to their neighbours; and feel safe. Placemaking is at the heart of what we do.
