Shopping In The Square Mile

Berkeley, One Tower Bridge, The View, Shopping In The Square Mile

We all know that the square mile that marks The City of London is a financial powerhouse. This is where international business deals are brokered, where fortunes are won (and sometimes lost) and where money talks.

Of course London's reputation as a luxury shopping mecca is as longstanding as its financial one. The world's biggest labels such as Chanel, Versace, Burberry and Barbour have had flagship stores in London, but the majority people looking for a spot of retail therapy wouldn't automatically head over to The City. However, that's all starting to change.

The Royal Exchange has long held the monopoly in The City, and for good reasons. In this delightful collection of more than 30 luxury stores you'll find exclusive outlets for brands such as Gucci, Omega, Paul Smith, Montblanc and Tiffany & Co. Peppered throughout you'll find a small but delectable selection of quality restaurants and cafés so you can make a day of your foray.

But there's now a new player in The Square Mile, one that's appealing to the increasingly influential younger market: One New Change. This incredible new shopping centre opened in 2010 next to St. Paul's Cathedral and has begun to draw more and more shoppers from outside the local area. Designed by Jean Nouvel, One New Change has a distinctive visual aesthetic with its smoked glass windows and sweeping lines earning it the nickname 'The Stealth Bomber'.

Inside One New Change you'll find 60 fabulous outlets ranging from designer fashion and accessories to quality dining establishments. You've got your usual big high street suspects: Guess, Oliver Bonas, Calvin Klein Underwear and Reiss for the ladies, Hugo Boss, All Saints and Superdry for the gents, as well as many more. And the centre is just a short walk from some of London's leading cultural institutions such as the Tate Modern.

So when you're in London for some shopping don't just visit the big hitters in the West End, try The City for something a little bit different.

One Tower Bridge occupies a prime position on London's South Bank, between three of the city's most important icons: Tower Bridge, the River Thames and the Tower of London. It is an exceptional new development of contemporary residencies, thoughtfully designed and luxuriously appointed throughout.

Within walking distance of the City's financial heart, close to Canary Wharf, next to a string of world-class cultural attractions and enjoying first-rate transport connections, One Tower Brudge justifies the description 'extraordinary'.
