Job Purposed: The Berkeley Group is a FTSE100 company whose purpose is to build quality homes, strengthen communities and improve people's lives through its development activities in London, Birmingham and the South of England.To support the Berkeley Group ('Berkeley') in ensuring accurate and concise internal and external reporting on responsible business performance, we're recruiting for a Group Responsible Business Reporting Manager to cover maternity leave on a 12-month fixed term contract. Note that the selected candidate could start immediately, and for the right candidate there may be the potential for the position to become permanent.


Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 

The role will support the Group Head of Responsible Business in the delivery of all aspects of the Berkeley Group's responsible business reporting requirements (alternatively referred to as corporate responsibility or environmental, social and governance (ESG)). Key areas of responsibility will be to:

  • Draft and review non-financial content for the Berkeley Group's Annual Report, including disclosure in line with SECR
  • Strengthen corporate reporting by implementing and disclosing against best practice recommendations, including those of the TCFD such as scenario analysis
  • Liaise with third party organisations to facilitate external audits and assurance of data
  • Manage submissions to investor benchmarks, including CDP and FTSE4Good
  • Monitor and communicate progress against Berkeley's science-based targets (SBTs)
  • Benchmark key data against industry peers and out of sector world-class businesses
  • Assist with the monitoring of Group progress towards goals and targets within the Berkeley Group's business strategy, 'Our Vision'
  • Develop processes and reporting tools (including our online reporting system) to enable efficient data collection and analysis of information in key ESG areas
  • Assist with the communication of responsible business performance across the business using a range of measures including written reports, presentations and attendance at meetings
  • Maintain up-to-date performance-related data on the intranet and website
  • Submit award submissions to gain external recognition for responsible business actions being undertaken across Berkeley 

Technical Specification:

The right candidate will have a strong understanding and prior experience of implementing corporate reporting requirements in relation to responsible business topics, including legislated and best practice content (e.g. SECR and TCFD). They will also be familiar with ESG related benchmarks and indices, be highly numerate and have a strong attention to detail


Person Specification:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data manipulation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to manage their own workload and prioritise tasks to meet key reporting deadlines
  • Expertise in interpreting data sets and translating them into meaningful messages
  • Confidence in working and communicating with people at all levels in an organisation
