Job Purpose: This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to gain a detailed understanding of housebuilding from one of the sectors market leading 'Place Making' companies. This position will also give the candidate clear experience on the role of the planning system and processes behind acquiring land, site selection and procuring new land opportunities, as well as developing a wider understanding of house building and the unique Berkeley approach to creating sustainable communities.


The commercial department is responsible for the procurement of materials and contractors used in the construction process, for on-going costs and contractual management for the development.
The team takes the design information produced by the technical department and splits this into work packages. These are tendered to the market and contractors are appointed for the construction process.

They are responsible for identifying suitable suppliers and contractors and manage the tendering process to establish the best value supplier or contractor for each package. The team works closely with the technical and construction departments to ensure that what is being built is accurate, on time and to budget.

Technical Competencies: 

  • Experience of high end low rise residential developments and a proven track record
  • Experience in using Asta Programme software
  • Experience in using Fieldview Tablet based management system
