Kingswood Chase History

History

The site which comprised of the manor house, coach house, gardener's lodge and landscaped gardens was once the country estate of wealthy Victorian Importer Emil Teichman.

His impressive 1883 manor house, originally named Sitka was designed by the architect Ernest Newton, who went on to become president of the Royal Institute of British Architects. Following Emil Teichman's death, the site was used as offices for Southern Railway during the war and more recently by the Sira Institute.

Today, both the manor house and its extensive grounds have been redeveloped by St James in a style that reflects the historic character and architecture to the estate.
