Berkeley is delighted that its commitment to continuous improvement is consistently being recognised by a range of industry awards.
These acknowledgements include a prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, which was bestowed on the company in 2008. The award reflects outstanding performance in the sector at both development and strategic level.
Each industry award represents an independent validation of achievement and they all serve as important yardsticks of the sort of progress that Berkeley is perpetually striving to make.
2011 Awards
The Berkeley Group voted Britain's Most Admired Company 2011
The Berkeley Group has been voted Britain's Most Admired Company 2011, the first housebuilder to receive this honour. The prestigious awards, organised by Management Today, celebrate the very best of British business. The title of Most Admired Company is voted by other British companies, which is testament to how Berkeley has earned the respect of its peers and competition alike.
Berkeley was celebrated as a recession-proof housebuilder, with Management Today noting that: "Berkeley's commercial performance is hard to fault. With its unrivalled instinct for the market's highs and lows, Berkeley has run rings around the competition."
Also acknowledged, by the awards, was The Berkeley Group's founder and chairman Tony Pidgley, who became the first entrepreneur to secure a coveted Most Admired Silver Star. This recognised his astute business sense in guiding the company towards ever-increasing levels of success.
European Business Awards 2011
The Berkeley Group has been recognised as a leading UK company by the European Business Awards 2011 judging panel. The awards are the premier platform for the celebration of successful businesses within the European Community.
Berkeley was ranked within the Top 10 companies across Europe for the 'Customer Focus' category, picking up a prestigious 'Ruban d'Honneur' award. This rewarded Berkeley's commitment towards placing the customer at the heart of its business.
The Group also reached the final 25 in the UK selection process for the 'Environmental and corporate sustainability' category and also the 'INFOSYS Business of the Year Award'.
Berkeley Group ranked first in Sustainability Benchmark for sixth year running
The Berkeley Group has been ranked as the top homebuilder in the 2011 NextGeneration benchmarking initiative. The benchmark ranks the UK's 25 largest homebuilders according to their sustainability strategy and performance. This is the sixth year in succession that Berkeley has come top of the benchmark. NextGeneration concluded that Berkeley continues to make available high quality public information on sustainability, makes its risks and risk management processes transparent and has a good strategic framework provided by Vision2020.
Building Public Trust Awards 2011- Sustainability Reporting
Awarded jointly by Price Water Cooper and the National Audit Office, the Building Public Trust Awards recognise trust and transparency in Corporate Reporting. The Berkeley Group's 2011 Sustainability Report was voted best in the FTSE 250 by an independent judging panel. Berkeley stood apart from the competition with its clear disclosure of its short, medium and long- term goals. Particular praise was given to Berkeley's clear integration of sustainability into its key business aims through its ambitious Vision2020 strategy.

New Homes and Garden Awards 2011
The Berkeley Group has been awarded the title of Housebuilder of the Year at the 2011 New Homes and Garden Awards. The awards recognise excellence in landscaping design. Berkeley was commended for its dedication to providing superbly designed and built properties, which are well integrated with natural features.
Additionally, the following received Gold Awards:
- Landscape of the Year- St James
- Best Landscaped Urban Development- Stanmore Place (St Edward) and The Hamptons (St James)
- Best Communal Landscape- Queens Acre (St James)
The Berkeley Group received 12 awards at the 2011 What House? Awards
The Berkeley Group received several awards at the 2011 What House? Awards. The prestigious Awards took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on the 18th November 2011. Berkeley was recognised in a wide variety of categories, ranging from sustainability to landscaping and design.

The Daily Telegraph British Homes Awards 2011
The Berkeley Group have been awarded the title of Homebuilder of the Year at The Daily Telegraph British Homes Awards 2011.
The awards ceremony, held on Thursday 22 September at The London Marriott Hotel, was also host to the British Homes Build Quality Awards, in which two Berkeley developments were announced winners. Woodberry Park received the award for Social Housing Development, and Caspian Wharf was recognised as the best Multi-Storey Development.
Property Awards 2011
The Property Awards, hosted by Property Week, celebrate outstanding achievements across the housing industry. The Berkeley Group received two prominent awards at the 2011 ceremony:
Property Entrepreneur of the Year- Tony Pidgley
This award celebrates firms or individuals who have demonstrated significant business or financial flair, vision or innovation within the UK property industry. Tony Pidgley received the award in recognition of his successful endeavours in weathering a difficult housing market by taking advantage of the current economic climate with the purchase of key London development sites.
Residential Achievement of the Year- Berkeley Group plc
The Berkeley Group also received the award for residential achievement of the year. This celebrates the first private rented sector fund, a collaboration between The Berkeley Group and the Homes and Community Agency (HCA). The judges commended the partnership as being reflective of true innovation.
The company's success in these two major categories is testament to its leading status within the sector.
Building Awards 2011- Housebuilder of the Year
For the second year running, the Berkeley Group has been voted the Housebuilder of the Year at the Building Awards 2011. This coveted award recognises industry-leading approaches to design, sustainability, business operation and customer care. The continued recognition that the Berkeley Group has received in this category is reflective of its ongoing success in reaching the highest standards across the whole of the business.
Best Sites Award - Multi-storey, The Tower, One St George Wharf
Winner - Marcus Blake
St George South London is delighted to announce Project Director, Marcus Blake has received, 'National Winner' for 'Best Site Category' for The Tower, One St George Wharf at the prestigious NHBC Health and Safety Awards.
The NHBC Health and Safety Awards celebrate the achievements of those individuals who have demonstrated effective leadership, creativity and innovation in overcoming varying challenges that arise on their construction sites.
