Things to Do at Battersea Park

London may be known for its high-rise buildings, impressive architecture and bustling streets, but it is also home to some of the world's most impressive city parks and open spaces.

Battersea is the perfect example. Its 200-acre park, officially opened in 1958 by Queen Victoria, has an incredible variety of outdoor activities on offer for both adults and children. With summer in full-swing and lockdown restrictions easing, it's a great time to pack a picnic and head out into the sunshine. We've put together a list of some of our top recommendations.

Hire a boat

Whether you're looking for ways to entertain the children or you simply want to try something new, head over to the parks boating lake where you can hire a rowing or pedal boat. It's a fantastic way to take in some of the beautiful scenery that Battersea Park has to offer.

When you are finished exploring the lake, the nearby Pear Tree Café has a wonderful outdoor seating area with views of the water, along with a delicious selection of food and drink (including vegan and gluten-free options).

Sports and exercise

Looking for something a little more active? Battersea Park has an abundance of paths for bike rides with cycle hire facilities on-site. Alternatively, there are plenty of Santander Cycle docking stations located near the entrances. The Millennium Arena also offers a whole range of different sports activities, courses and classes together with tennis courts, a gym and an athletics track.

If you prefer to run or enjoy an evening stroll, head towards the River Thames for some amazing views of the sunset over Albert Bridge.

A trip to the zoo

With lemurs, parrots and tree frogs, Battersea Park Children's Zoo will no doubt give your little ones plenty to talk about. There are also opportunities to get up close with some of the animals during feeding times.

If that's not enough to tire them out, there's even an adventure playground for them to explore with chalkboard barns, forts, a fire engine, and more. Located just outside of the playground, you can hop on The Little Train that takes you through the tropical garden and fountains and up to the zoo and boating lake.

Go Ape

Enjoy the thrill of heights? Then you might want to check out Go Ape Battersea Park. Designed for both children and adults, there are two courses available that will have you swinging through the trees with a fabulous backdrop of London's epic skyline.

But be warned, because the Treetop Challenge course has crossings that are twice the height of most Go Ape locations around the UK, so it's not for the faint-hearted.

Statue hunting

If you have an interest in arts and culture, then why not explore the wonderful collection of statues and monuments that Battersea Park is home to? Henry Moore's famous 'Three Standing Figures' and the iconic Peace Pagoda are just two examples of some of the thought-provoking sights that can be found throughout the park and its stunning gardens.

Battersea is a truly fantastic location if you want that balance of outdoor space and city living, and our latest development in this area has been built to suit these surroundings, offering stunning views over the park itself.
