The Napier Lion was the most powerful engine in the world in the 1930s. Fitted in cars, motorcycles and even aeroplanes, it set a new benchmark for engineering expertise. At its peak, Napier moved its factory to Acton, indeed to The Vale, around the same time that a Napier engine won the first ever British victory in international motorsport.
