Berkeley's All Saints paints a picture of tranquillity
Eastbourne's coastline is well known for its dramatic white cliffs and green rolling hills. The famous Beachy Head and Seven Sisters together with the South Downs provides an area of outstanding natural beauty and tranquillity.
This picturesque setting provided the perfect backdrop for Brenda Haw to carry out her profession as an artist at the Berkeley (Southern) Ltd development All Saints.
Brenda, 74 recently moved back to the UK after spending seven years in France and sought advice from her architect son on the converted development before buying her one bedroom home which is uniquely split level with a stunning galleried landing at Berkeley's stunning development – All Saints.
Brenda comments: "The finish of the bathroom and kitchen are fantastic and the views from my new home are wonderful. Because All Saints is a conversion, every home is different and it makes for more interesting living space.
"When I was moving back to the UK, I searched on the internet for homes in the area. I already knew about Eastbourne as I used to live here years ago and have friends and family living just on the outskirts. One of my sons, who lives in Brighton, was also insistent that I move over here to be close to him.
"One of the important things that drew me to buying at All Saints was the lovely area, as well as the convenience of the shops at Meads Village and the sea views. I go for walks to the beach almost every day and there are some wonderful walks on the Downs and through the forest. Neighbouring Meads Village is fantastic and has everything you need - pubs, restaurants, a good high quality butchers, a Tesco and a dentist."
Berkeley (Southern) Ltd has created a collection of stunning homes within a fully restored converted Victorian Gothic Revivalist style 19th century hospital and chapel, originally designed by the highly acclaimed architect Henry Woodyer. Skilfully restored by Berkeley (Southern) Ltd and a dedicated team of experts, considerable care was undertaken in converting the period buildings into modern homes that reflect today's lifestyle needs.
Brenda adds: "Another of my sons is an architect and he knows my tastes very well. He told me that this was a home that was truly unique and ticked all the boxes. The conversion is fantastic and combines all of the period features I like such as the high gothic windows and impressive original feature beams with the modern conveniences I need. Having looked at other properties in Brighton and Eastbourne, there was certainly no comparison.
Set on 8.6 acres of beautiful gardens and with views of Sussex countryside all around, All Saints provides a tranquil environment for Brenda to paint.
Brenda added: "I used to illustrate for a publisher, but I don't that anymore; I just paint for myself now and I don't have any deadlines. I can work for home and it means I can take full advantage of the wonderful, relaxing scenery in Eastbourne when I paint. I just love living here. I have mezzanine area in the living room which I have converted into my studio."
All Saints has several modern amenities including a dedicated concierge service that can assist residents with day to day necessities from dry cleaning to groceries. The service also provides recommendations on where to eat and current events in Eastbourne, helping residents to take full advantage of all that the area has to offer. There is also a library, as well as a chapel and a small gym at the development. The landscape surrounding All Saints is professionally maintained by the estate management service, allowing residents to enjoy the green space without having to worry about the gardening.
