Berkeley First scoops prestigious Gold Award at the 2011 Considerate Constructors Scheme Awards
13th April 2011
Leading developer of new homes, Berkeley First, was awarded the prestigious Gold Award at the 2011 Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) Awards Ceremony last week for its contemporary new development, Dakota House in Croydon.
Celebrating the achievements of the most considerate construction sites of 2010, the CCS Awards recognise the efforts made by individual sites and companies across the UK to convey a positive image of the construction industry through high levels of consideration towards their workforce, neighbours and environment.
Within the select band of gold award winners, Berkeley First also received a Most Considerate Site Runner Up Award, putting the developer in the top 0.25% of all companies.
Dakota House is a striking conversion of a redundant office block into 88 spacious apartments in West Croydon. Now completely sold, apartments were available for both rent and sale through Berkeley First's partnership with leading housing association, Family Mosaic.
With a £3.5bn regeneration programme being undertaken in Croydon, Dakota House marks one of the first completed residential phases that are transforming the area into London's 'third city'.
Matthew Biddle, managing director at Berkeley First, commented: "This achievement is testament to our teams' hard work and commitment to setting such high standards on site. We are delighted to have received formal recognition of this commitment and would like to thank everyone involved, particularly our partners at Family Mosaic.
"This scheme has particularly captured the imagination and enthusiasm of our entire organisation; everyone feels a huge sense of 'ownership' for the respective parts they have all played in its success."
Debbie Coombs, assistant development director, Sales and Marketing at Family Mosaic, said: "Family Mosaic is delighted for everyone at Berkeley First; winning this award is a testament to all of their hard work through the whole build process. They were a pleasure to work alongside and Dakota House is a fantastic example of the quality and consideration they put into their work. We look forward to working with Berkeley First on more projects in the future."
