Strategy
Berkeley believe that a safe environment is not one in which there is an absence or a low number of serious injury incidents, but is the result of active participation by management and staff in identifying hazards and taking positive action to eliminate or control them. This reflects corporate and individual professionalism, which is the keystone of Berkeley's continuing success, and ensures that the avoidance of accidents and the promotion of safe and healthy workplaces remains the common objective throughout The Berkeley Group Holdings plc.
In order to meet this common objective strategic initiatives have been developed across the Group which are known as the 8 key areas of health and safety:
- Management Rules
- Work at Height
- Fire
- Training
- PPE
- Safe Systems of Work
- Good Order
- Good Work
'Vision 2020'
In addition to the above strategic initiatives The Berkeley Group has set out its Health and Safety commitments for the next 10 years as a key element of Vision 2020, a strategy that The Berkeley Group has created to ensure that by 2020 it continues to be viewed by its stakeholders as the leader in delivering sustainable homes and communities, as well as being one of the UK's most socially responsible businesses. Vision 2020 will focus on four clear impact areas:
- The Customer Experience
- Delivering Sustainable Communities
- Building Greener Homes
- Running a Sustainable Business
In each impact area, Vision 2020 will include a number of firm sector leading commitments that are designed to drive performance and capitalise on the challenges and opportunities posed by the sustainability agenda that the business will need to address over the next ten years. Our Health and Safety commitments are made under 'Running a Sustainable Business'. Further information is available upon request.
